Praying For A Renovation

In my last blog you saw what can be done with paint and a low budget. This post is very similar in that we made paint and existing furniture go a long way. The Anchor Church in Colorado Springs asked me to renovate a prayer room in their church.

First off, let me tell you about this church. The Anchor Church began just one year ago. They took two churches in the area and combined them and made The Anchor. My trip to Colorado lasted just short of two weeks but in that time I saw so much! This church exudes love and support for their community, congregation and leaders. When you are a part of this church, you aren’t just another number in attendance, you are family (and not the kind you just see at holiday events). The Anchor celebrated their one year birthday by reaching out to a local school and volunteering time and services such as painting, organizing, cleaning, and yard work. If you would like more info about this church you can go their site theanchorchurch.co. You can read what they are about and also listen to several sermons they have done in the past.

Needless to say I was honored to be a part of their family for two weeks and honored to be asked to renovate their prayer room. This room is a long narrow space with two windows and tall ceilings. When I asked what they wanted this room to become they said “we use this room for storage and leaders to pray in before service, but we also want to use it as a prayer room for the public and it to serve as an office space as well”.

Let me show you what the room looked like before...

As you can see they had tons of seating, which is great for meetings or group prayer, but no office space. Little by little the church is remodeling the sanctuary and the office spaces and wanted this room to be more cohesive with the remodeled areas they had already done.

The goals for the remodel:

*Add Office Space

*Seating For Groups

*Comforting Atmosphere

*Coherent With Existing Remodels

Here is what we did. Check out the new office/prayer room.

By using a darker color in the room it created a more intimate space for those who need a comforting area to pray. We reused some metal buckets to store Bibles under the benches. The two black benches that you saw in the before picture I repainted and had one cut in half to create the L shaped bench you see now. I repainted the desk that you see and we found the office chair at Salvation Army. We found all of the cushions and pillows at walmart. I also reupholstered the piano bench and the office chair to match the theme. We purchased the lamps and curtains from Ross and Salvation Army and last but not least, the awesome wall art that you see was done by The Anchor's lead pastor Lindsay Hafner.

An all together budget friendly remodel.

Hope you have enjoyed my post!
