From Mom's House to Our House (Remodel Complete)

Well, what do you think?!?! Pretty cool huh!

To quote Dorothy on Wizard of Oz, “There is no place like home”.   We finally get to show you the entire remodel completed! If you are anything like I am when you walk into the house you grew up in, you automatically feel at peace or nostalgic.  Maybe you haven’t been to your childhood home in a while but if you went back I bet you would have a storm of memories and emotions come to mind as soon as you walked through the door.   Doesn’t matter what the paint color is, doesn’t matter what the dated décor looks like, you walk in and it’s like you are greeted by an old friend.   That, along with many other reasons, is why I couldn’t let this house go.

However, just because I couldn’t let the house go, doesn’t mean I couldn’t say good bye to the dark dungeon cabin-like décor.  We have a two story garage on our lot and when I was growing up here my friends and I would always take the upstairs to ourselves as our “club house” and every summer we had to repaint and redecorate the “club house”.  Little did I know that I would still be taking on summer projects on the same property years later.   Okay, Okay, I will stop rambling and get on with the before and after pictures.

Here is the Exterior! I loved this wraparound porch before, but now I love it even more! It maybe summer in Oklahoma with hot temps, but we still enjoy our front porch sitting.  We had the house painted and porch restrained, added some new seating and landscaping, a few lights and I think this is my favorite remodel of this entire house.  Here are the before pictures first.

 AFTER

Now that you have seen the exterior, I will show you again the transformation of the inside of the house.

Jeremy keeps telling me I can’t stop working on something once I start a project until it’s finished (which is why we were able to flip this house so quickly) and I can’t handle not having a project so I will probably have another project before long I hope! I’m thinking of taking on the garage next so we will see.  Several of you have posted and asked for my help for decorating and design advice and I would absolutely love to make this a career so if you need some advice or hints or people to contact to do a remodel let me know! I’d be happy to help you out!

This house is always going to be a special place, and not just for me.  I told you in one of my first posts that several of my friends grew up here too.  There wasn’t an inch of this lot that my friends and I didn’t run, jump, kart wheel, roller blade or make mud pies on.  For some reason, this little tiny 1,100 square foot home was the place to be or the place to visit.  I’m glad to say that hasn’t changed.

You know, it’s not a dark cabin anymore but I can’t help but think Mom would be pretty impressed with what we’ve done.

Thanks for all of your kind words and encouragement! They are truly appreciated!
