From Dark and Dated to Bright and Beautiful

This was the room I was least excited about remodeling. While growing up there was always an unwritten rule about mom’s room… Don’t Go In! She was meticulous about her things being in a certain spot and if it had been moved an inch, I don’t know how, but she knew! So needless to say, any ideas I had about painting/remodeling this room while growing up went in one ear and right out the other. (And she said I had selective hearing….)

This room hardly ever changed, always dark and brown. Since mom loved the wooded cabin style, this room made complete sense, it was just how she wanted it, and it was very mom. Like I said earlier this was the room I was least excited about. Just like my room growing up was all me, mom’s room was all her, and after losing her it took a while for me to even be able to go in the room. However, now that it is finished I think she’d even be impressed. I think it’s one of my favorite rooms in the house now! Instead of dark and dreary it’s bright and cheerful and I love it!

Here are some before pictures of the room to show you what I had to work with.

I am happy to say we are almost done with this room! A few little things need to be done such as a new light fixture and new outlet covers but for the most part it’s all done! YAY!!! Here are the after pics!

Next post will be the bathroom!
